magpye Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Is it me, or are people incapable of using the English language. In spelling and context?Sorry to pick this particular post, however it seems to be the normality on the forums recently. Could not agree more. Text speak should be kept for text speak. This constant dumbing down is not right. There are a couple of other threads where it is impossible to understand what has been written. Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.

I have a friend who works in a job centre, apparently it is quite common for teenagers to fill in job application forms using text talk now, funnily enough they don't usually get a job!! To the OP, there is nothing wrong with measuring battery voltage across the battery no matter how big the battery is but current should be measured in series with the battery. (remove one lead from the battery then put one meter probe on the battery terminal and the other on the battery lead)
hpotter Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 he might of meant 'dont put it accross a battery on 10A' as yes it will melt the leads if you not using fused leads. Also its pointless to do it on V as it will not prove battery health unless its totally shot. QFA Also why they make a seperate socket for the 10A range so you have to move a lead, - less chance of a mistake.
MatonTE1 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Is this the 'How do you confuse an Irishman' joke...... I'm 1/4 Paddy before anybody whines! ..well then you'll know that the reason Irish jokes are so simple is so that the english can understand them!
Guest old-hand Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 ..well then you'll know that the reason Irish jokes are so simple is so that the english can understand them! Harsh..................my mother is Irish..........................I see ya point pmsl

Absolutely right.........makes me wonder how some people get on filling out dockets etc. I have a friend who works in a job centre, apparently it is quite common for teenagers to fill in job application forms using text talk now, funnily enough they don't usually get a job!!To the OP, there is nothing wrong with measuring battery voltage across the battery no matter how big the battery is but current should be measured in series with the battery. (remove one lead from the battery then put one meter probe on the battery terminal and the other on the battery lead) Probably the new trick to stay on the dole, in my day it was claiming to be a tomato picker ( living in the city ) or turn up for the interview unshaved and wearing a pyjama jacket for a shirt !
DaleR Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 QFAAlso why they make a seperate socket for the 10A range so you have to move a lead, - less chance of a mistake. Technically there is only a seperate socket as there is a shunt inside.

Reminds me of a bloke i knew, dragged into the dole office and was asked why he was not working as he was a painter and there were plenty of jobs around. His reply was he was a "Landscape" painter. pmsl
