smileamiledr Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 hi friends, thanks for all the answers. I am delightled with the discussions it gives you a whole new perspective. In summary I understand that people are not happy installing a system that is used- I thought so even before posting this question but I thought in these times of recession every little business generated helps. I did not want to waste anybodys time as it was only discussed on phone and I dont think anybody can get any work without taking phone calls. It is just that when the friends shop was closing down, we were all thinking what to do with the system- he needed money. He had spent
Guest old-hand Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 All cams focused correctly, adjusted for back lighting ect? Dvr set up for correct frame rate, cams not looking into next doors daughters bedroom. Correct signage posted? Why waste a lot of so called good equipment, have the alarm installed, mine is way overkill but it works. Not as much as it could, but its more stable than some

lawandorder Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I rarely got asked to fit customers own equipment but you have to judge each case on it's own merits, from a business perspective and if you want to be pedantic it's just a case of supplying labour plus a margin to cover the profit that you would have made had you supplied the equipment. Also lots of provisos re return visits should the equipment fail! No different to a takeover IMHO. As for the prices, I must admit that on face value the first two sound cheap to me but without seeing the job it's hard to tell.
Guest RJBsec Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Since you bring up so called challanges why have you just challanging me about the righteousness of my post?Pots 'n' kettles C. Think that the following is uncalled for: OP you'll no doubt expect unlimited FREE return visits and hours of FREE labour to rectify any niggling faults as you "paid" for the install of a working system C. Should I just set up the cctv system myself and forget about the alarm system. Is it too high spec for a modest house? your expert views are welcome. If you've got someone to fit it for
Chorlton Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Think that the following is uncalled for: So your the forum member that's gonna challange everyone who posts what you think is "uncalled for"? Deja vu I feel. Oh well.

SUBS Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Think that the following is uncalled for: I dont think its uncalled for, I think it probably comes from experience, and I agree wholeheartedly.
A-G Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I've got one customer where we used his equipment. His story was that his cousin who works for a national Co. was going to fit it and told him what to buy ..... but then said he was too busy. He asked us to do it and we did ... but I insisted on supplying the control & bell. This was 6 years ago .... and the guy has been a pain ever since! .... always bleating about prices. and now he's moving premises and he's asked us to move the alarm but I've refused on the grounds that it's ungraded. I've quoted for the new premises .... but I won't hold my breath. . . . PM me for access to the SSAIB members discussion area.
