mojo Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Fire Safety Risk Assessment is obviously a very serious business as it can present a threat to life. Due to the seriousness and enormity of the subject Fire Safety Risk Assessment Guides: ur guides fellow engineers

The Act repeals or amends virtually all-existing legislation under which fire safety was previously controlled after a building was occupied or altered. The repeals include the Fire Precautions Act 1971, under which fire certificates were issued. Existing fire certificates no longer have any affect. The Act imposes its requirements primarily on Example_FRA.pdf
hpotter Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Great post C. As I understand it 183 pieces of legislation were ammended or replaced. Didnt know till recently that there are different types of intumescent paint for beams in different types of steel framed buildings. Heavens knows how your supposed to check!!
Chorlton Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 carefully, lol no seriously visual inspection, documentary proof, sample test (expensive) or disclaim "verbally adviced by MrX that coating was compliant to XYZ however no documentary evidence or permission for sample testing given to acertain". That's pretty much they way to go on any aspect of the assessment where you can't see it for yourself or a document with someone elses ass/name on it saying it's so. It's probaly easier to cure cancer, get peace in the middle east and stop a toaster burning toast (engineering holy grail) than do a comprehensive fire risk assessment. The main problem is the supporting/associated rules/regs/laws are ever changing so it's bearly valid 100% as the inks dried. I no longer do then instaed I sub them to a free lance consultant as I feel I'm no longer fully competant making a minimal 15-20% margin. as usual the "I'll do it as a checklist/template for
