ian.cant
Simple answer is none as such, you just need to be a competant person, which means, your granny can do a course for about
Lectrician
If you have the necessary electrical qualifications then you do not need anything else. You are simply expected to be competent and understand the IEE publication "The IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment". If you want to just be able to offer PAT testing as a service and are not a sparky, you can do the half day course at most colleges (C+G 2377). the course is aimed at maintenance men and the like. A-G
Problem is, everybody & his dog is doing it now ... so the prices are getting lower and lower. ..... and the new kid on the block now is energy efficiency testing. . . . PM me for access to the SSAIB members discussion area.
miaren
To keep my Co. (on building sites etc) and the wifes shop (employers responsibility), I found http://www.pat-services.co.uk/ a very good site for products and the tester I bought included a test for a "suitable" qualification. I was able to become a "competent" person with little effort (though I have PAT tested in the past). I do, however, ensure the PAT tester is calibrated when due.
