scottc Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Hi, We have just moved into a reppossed property, which has a Networker TS790 / TS900 (this is what is on the manual cover). We went in for the first time this evening and had been in there for a couple of hours and then after the lights tripped, the alarm set itself off. As we never met the previous owners, there is no record of the code and therefore i turned all power off but of course the alarm still carried on, i assume with the back up battery (although it gradually got quieter). The problem i need help with is to work out how i go about re-setting the code so i can use it normally. Or as a minimum disabled it until i sort out the problem with the electrics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Scott
Chorlton Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 without knowing the existing code the system needs defaulted by an engineer & at the same time he can carry out a service to make sure it all works correctly and the back up battery is replaced regards disabled please see this reminder which is posted at the top of every forum to remind new members of the site rules they signed up to http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/comm...p;f=11&id=8 c.

Scott Your comment about the system "gradually getting quieter" gives a possible clue here. Is there actually any power on the system at all now? For example, any lights/text on the keypad display? The reason I suggest this is that certainly outside sounders will only get quiet if the SAB battery is running down........which in turn suggests it isn't being charged. So, in common with the other guys, I'd say get a decent engineer in to look it over. There's a possibility that whatever caused the RCD to trip also blew an aux fuse in the alarm control panel, in which case your back up batteires are at the least flat by now, and possibly damaged, depending upon how much drain there's been on them - not to account for anything that might have gone before. Your system clearly needs investigation, which is beyond anything that can be recommended for the home owner to do - not impossible, just not recommended. Another advantage you'll have is that you then have a back up if something goes wrong in the future, or if changes are required. In any case, your security is utterly compromised at this point in time. Your home is a repossession, which presumably the former owners protected with the alarm system you talk of here. THEY probably have the codes. YOU don't. That would worry me. Get a decent firm in to check it out soon. By all means you can ask here about anything they tell you. Bill.
