daubs8 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 It's as if they have a self destruct mechanism built in!! We have of late had numerous clients reporting higher than average ISDN phone bills. This is being put down by some to the the calls not being 'hung up' correctly anymore, some are suggesting it may be down to BT changes. Anyhow, it is becoming more frequent. Also, and this is the worrying one, we are increasingly losing connection to a number of units. When the engineer interogates the settings he is finding various changes in the user names, passwords etc. Some have defaulted, one unit even changed the passwords and changed the language to German!! We are obviously upgrading to ADSL and FastTrace where budgets dictate. Anybody else having similar problems?? Interested to see TechGuy's comments. Ta!

They are too far apart really and some have lost their connection in the middle of the night!? We had Adpro in last week and they did admit they have had the higher ISDN bills brought to their attention by others? Very strange!
james.wilson Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 webway make a unit for converting them to ip securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
daubs8 Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 webway make a unit for converting them to ip Really? What sort of money compared with mss100?
james.wilson Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 dunno we have only taken them over not fitted em. You need to use a laptop to program the unit up inthe first place (ie ip etc) then you just enter ip's in the call list. You may want to speak to webway about em though as adpro dont directly support em. Also the arc needs to be setup differently (port 3001 i think) James securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

breff Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I had an Adpro router (Zyxel really) default itself recently, threw it away and fitted DG834. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)
james.wilson Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 yeah we tend to have wierd issues with zyxel. Always use an 834 now. Before that we used 814's What we gonna do when they stop making 834's? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Joe Harris Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 That was my first thought!! They are too far apart really and some have lost their connection in the middle of the night!? We had Adpro in last week and they did admit they have had the higher ISDN bills brought to their attention by others? Very strange! Can I point out one change for which the timing would suit. If you recall ARCs were previously only seeing the first half a dozen activations unless acknowledged (somthing initially introduced during the heady PSTN/ISDN days yet something not much preferred since IP in both cases due to bandwidth) with the rest of any activations in a particular 'session' reporting as text only. In a recent-ish version this could be amended at the ARC so that footage was sent for all activations (Not checked yet if this is default) if this has been enabled for those on ISDN then they potentially could be transmitting more data if the ARC was lax in its response usually. It is a bit of a push but is possible I guess. ask your ARC how many activations are being handled individually form any particular site (Should be all except where received simultaeneously) We have had no noticable increases or issues (We also don't have many old fs units) but I will ask our R&D guys to dust one off and test a few scenarios out to us to look for potential issues or loops.
