james140577 Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Just installed a new R8 system , 1x RKP 1xBell box and 4x PIR. When system in unset mode the alarm goes off and Tamper light comes on , when i go into the alarm log it shows as " 5" RKP off Line . Also the same happens when in walk test mode 19 the tamper light locks in and when omit button is pressed for the extended descriptionit also shows "5" RKP off line. I have tested the loop resistance of the existing cable , thats ok , i have also renewed it , ya neva know , the dip switches on the RKP are set for address 1 , all terminals tight. Has anyone any idea's ? am starting to think the RKP is faulty or the Main control board. Suggestions would be great. Thanks J
antinode Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Not really used these panels to be honest.Try stretching the tamper spring in the keypad slightly, it may only just be making contact with the lid, causing it to open when you operate the keypad. Also may be worth checking the voltage at the + and - connections on the keypad: it should be well above 13v in the average house. Also may be worth wiring the keypad straight to the panel on a short piece of cable to see if that makes a difference. Trade Member

The RKP is only about 2 metres away from the main board, aint check the voltage yet , but i can hear a good click when the cover is put on so i presume the tamper switch is closing ok
Lectrician Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Does the keypad behave exactly as you expect? LED's lit etc for the key backlight etc? Sounds like you have mis-wired the keypad - check and double check the wiring. I believe you only get the keypad offline error when the T or R cables are disconnected or mis-wire at a keypad, or a 'registered' keypad goes offline due to no volts or communications failure on the T or R. You only have one keypad connected I assume? If it is an out of the box system, it could well be faulty. Email : martin@askthetrades.co.uk

The wiring has been checked several times and replaced and checked again. Only one RKP on the system. I really am starting to think the RKP or the Main board is faulty.
