rococo Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Hi, The house I've moved into has a Scantronic 9448 with three PIRs and three door sensors. I have a cat, so I can't really use the PIRs. I'm not interested in trying to modify the PIRs to block floor level, as other people have said here, it is not always effective with cats. What I really want is two modes of operation, one with all sensors on (for when I go on holiday and cat is in cattery), and one "cat friendly" mode with just door sensors active (for everyday use) I had been under the impression that "partial set" would give me this behaviour, but that does not appear to be the case. I realise I can manually exclude the three PIR detectors every time I set the alarm, but this is a pain, and also there is the possibility of making a mistake. The question is, if I set PIR detectors as "Not used", will this achieve the desired behaviour for everyday use? (Allowing me to relatively easily reactivate the PIRs when going on holiday?) Many thanks

There are a number of pet-friendly PIR's available to replace your existing detectors to allow you to continue to benefit from fuller coverage - alternatively programme the zones as omitted in part set, Option 10 in the manual I think.
Monty Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 9448 original 2 zone plus e/e be better upgrading to a better panel more flexibility /more zones put each detector /contact on own zone makes life a lot easier . www.AllanMoncrieffAlarms.com
TonyCraggs Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Easiest way without access to eng mode is to manually omit each time u set the system, other than that if the cat cannot climb over a certain hight a bit electrician tape acroos the bottom of the lense will also dorestricting the view of 5ft.(not kitchen tho if your cat can get on top of cupbords) Hawk Fire & Security Ltd Specialist Installers Of Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Fire Alarms, Door Access & Entry Systems Tel. 07786037709 Email. hawkfireandsecurity@live.co.uk KING OF TETRIS !!!

rococo Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Thanks for some really good help here. I'm not sure how I managed to convince myself that partial set couldn't do what I wanted. All working perfectly as required now. I know it's not the most secure way of doing things, but it's better than nothing for the time being. (No spare cash to invest in a new system at the moment)
