Much appreciated. Do you have "point to multi point" or "point to point" ISDN accesses? These are classed as MSN or DDI, although the term DDI gets used as a generalisation. It is more common to have P-P lines, although it is difficult to get a provider to supply just a single DDI (where as they will supply single MSN numbers with out question). DDI's are usually sold in groups of 10. You need to go into system programming - dial ##1111 (assuming the password is the 1111 default) when on speaker phone, or press progamming and scroll to system. Then choose lines, then DDI or MSN programming depending on your line type. Then choose an index number (001 would be fine if you have not got any others programmed, it is just it's reference number, nothing else). Then enter the DDI number - with dialling code is best, although just the last few digits would work. Then enter a name for your DDI (fax would be my first thought!). Then choose Day, Night or both (you are likely to want both for a fax). Then choose the extension number of the fax (you could also select an extension group instead if your DDI was calling a department or group of phones for example). You should then be set. A couple notes..... On ISDN, you can play with the 3.1Khz extension settings under extension programming - some faxes need this set to on, and others prefer it off. You should also place "tone protect" onto the fax extension under extension programming to prevent busy or intrude tones being sent to the fax when it is recieving or sending. You may also want to look at the CLIR and COLR and other CLI DDI references in the manual with regards which number is sent to the line when you dial out (which number do you want people who dial 1471 or who have caller display to see?? Most likely the fax, or possibly nothing at all). Email : martin@askthetrades.co.uk
