Guest Clivep500 Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 I have an accord XPC and the battery light is flashing, //.National Installer.// want a £145 plus the battery cost to fix the alarm. I am not an engineer but am reasonably able and would like to think that I could change the battery or is it something that i need an engineer to do. I am based in Lincoln. Sorry Clive I deleted your post in error, but have put it back as far as i could remember.
morph Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Is the system monitored and is it under contract with //.National Installer.//? Did you have the system fitted by //.National Installer.// or did someone else? Colin.
norman Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Hi Clive, You have been quoted 'non contract' rates which obviously suggest you are no longer tied to //.National Installer.//. Get the yellow pages out, any local company will be able to assist and offer you a maintenance agreement. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Colin. 17772[/snapback] Hi colin, System installed by //.National Installer.// as part of new build Stamford Homes house. Now out of contract. System is bells only. Can i just leave the warnnig or do i have to take action? Clive
Guest Guest Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 Clive the battery has to be changed, you can't just leave it! When you say its out of contract and bells only, is that because you did not renew the monitoring or was it programmed as bells only by //.National Installer.//. Changing the battery is not a problem that a competant person could do, if you remove the cover screws, open the lid, the alarm will go off. enter your code and the noise will stop. remove the battery leads **take care as there is mains present** you will be able to get a replacement battery from any good electrical wholesaler or security installer. Although I would reccomend that you get a proffesional in to check the system over and ensure that any bell/sounder batteries are okay to and that you have also got the right diagnosis, i would expect to pay about £40-60. Hope this helps. Colin.
Guest Clivep500 Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 thanks for the helpful posts. I will phone round local alarm companies for a better price (hopefully) than //.National Installer.//. Once again, many thanks. Clive
