electric-ian Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hi, Joists are always the problem... Make sure you follow the manufacturers recs about air spaces and distance from joists. I always try to leave a good 2" gap from a joist and if I need to be closer for the pattern, I fit a heatshield. I know the 11W versions run cool but some future occupier could easily stick a 50W in instead. Also, check out if your ceiling is fire rated. If it is you will need to fit fire rated downlights or install smoke hoods. Have fun.. Ian
jnealon Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks for the tips but I've pumped too much money in to renovating and extending this place to move. I have plenty of air space around the fittings. The ceilings are also slabbed with fire board. getting back on topic, any suggestions on layout as I still haven't drilled them out yet www.realsecurity.ie
