CompostCORNER Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 How do these CASTLE panels measure up? I've installed zillions of TS690IDM's over the years and was partly responsible for the SECOR system along with the thenMenvier area manager Tony Carneigh thats been appearing over the last 5 years over Yorkshire. ADE's Karizma is a friendly panel but has a major drawback or two. Firstly, it will only do 10 zones. Biscuits are cool though as it uses up spare high numbered biscuits. Take zone 5 as an example. Biscuit 05, 15 and 25 can be used for Zone 5. All the other zones accept a similar biscuit protocol. The second number of the actual biscuit corresponds to the zone. Unfortunately, when you've removed the PA and the FIRE zones from the panel, (Zones 09 and 10 If I remember correctly), theres only 8 zones left. An 8 zone panel is ideal for a domestic (thats a house fellas ) but houses don't benefit from ID cable wiring very well. I still have to be a little biased and say Menviers 690ID is the best out there. PS:- I know you can get detectors with the ID biscuit 'pre-wired' into the detector but are there any other detection devices that hold a biscuit? If anyone says 'biscuit barrel', I'll hunt you down and hack off your hob knobs with a blow lamp. Tony EDITED FOR SPEELING! lol
Deltaseven Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 How do these CASTLE panels measure up? They measure up pretty well - in my opinion!! We are installing Castle for all our larger sites, and Texecom for anything 8 zones or less. When I first came to the UK, I was unimpressed with most of the panels on the market, compared with the panels we installed in Zimbabwe (DSC and Caddx ONLY). I now have to admit that Castle is pretty much up there with the best! Panels are solid and reliable, programming is simple, but could possibly allow a little more flexibility. But then I've been spoilt with Caddx... ;-) D7
BUSTER Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 We use the Castle Euro 44 . Very reliable and expandable panel I don't think you can get any detectors that are 'pre wired anymore' Any comments / opinions posted are my opinion only and do not represent those of my employer or Company
Guest futura Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Hello Pete I will try and make this the last post of muppet style questions but this is my modified diagram of how I think things should be.. Hopefully this is okay.? I am still not 100% sure on if the iD- line should go to the blue wire on the biscuit or not in the case of foil but I guess there is one way to find out! Is it standard practice to wire a second tamper line every time you use a junction box? is this what is meant by an iDjb? I think I am almost ready to go. No guessing what I will be doing this weekend. Have a nice weekend everyone. Thanks for the advice over the last few days it has helped me loads. B) William
norman Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 I cant see the diagram? That's the high security diagram Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
