MattBaker Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 OK here we go. Got a job to look at. We have a pedestrian turnstile which i need to setup with access control time and attendance. ok The issue is we have power on-site which is great but the pc to control the system has to be sited the other side of the road. And the best thing about it is the site office is a metal container. There is no pc network by the site turnstile. At a lose with this one. Any help would be good. guys. You like a challenge.

MattBaker Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 wifi bridge? Tell you what, sometimes you cant see the obvious until your pushed over it. Just done the same thing on a cctv system. redbull. Just hope the range will be ok, will have to fit external aerial for the wifi. No longer security engineers, now PC network engineers with a hint of security thrown in. I'm just pleased we can do it.

Cubit Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Paxton net2 nano ? Steel box??? Answer already provided. WiFi Bridge. Done several big sites like this. Works a treat. And as we seem to be pushing names, used ACT.

Cubit Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 doesnt the act unit have a built in ethernet ports? It does, the ActPro3000. It is especially useful on turnstiles too. Bi-directional turnstiles with read in/out can be wired as a single door. Ideal on large sites with multiple turnstiles side by side. Also frees up the aux relays for other uses (CCTV triggers etc) most cost effective.

SUBS Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I've installed quite a lot of ACT and I like it. Would have been my second choice. Wirings a bit cramped, especially in the small 100E single door stations, and I dont like the terminals being in the lid.
