Internet Access?

Hi again

ok from my last thread http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/comm...showtopic=28883

I thought that it would be best in a new thread, hope that's OK.

Now I can view my cameras on any PC in my house with my wireless, I am trying to set up for access over the internet so I can check it anywhere, I followed some information as I have a dynamic IP I registered with DynDNS and then set up for my main home ip that it detected.

After that I set up a port forwarding using this information site: http://www.portforward.com/ And looked up the Netgear WGR614v9 router.

Now I turned off my firewall to test it and used my ports that I got from my DVR these are start = 5000 and end = 5001

then I did a test with the https://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html open port tester and I just get timed out all the time.

Can any one help me with this?

Sorry for asking, Thanks

to remove issues with port forwarding try using the dmz feature (for testing only) then you can work on your ports.

Another thing to test is remote admin on that router, that way your testing you can remotly access teh router. If you cant then port forading etc wont help as something major is wrong.

sorry to be a pain, but what are these remote admin?

I think I set up the dmz feature, but not sure I did something called "Dynamic DNS Service" and it sets up to the DynDNS.com website is that what you meant?

Thanks

No

You need to modify these settings.

Are right I see what you mean.

So do I add the ip of the DVR in there? or something else?

Thanks for the replying also

Hi

ok I have done both, I can confirm now that remote admin will work and is set up.

I ticked the Default DMZ Server and as a guess I added the ip of my DVR in I left everything else as it was like this:

Disable SPI Firewall unticked

Respond to Ping on Internet Port ticked

MTU Size (in bytes) (1500)

NAT Filtering Secured

Is that right, as I dont get any change with accessing my ports needed.

your mtu size is wrong but that will only slow it down not stop it working.

Yes you should temporerily put your dvr in the dmz. That will forward everything to it so is a good test, but not advised for long term.

YOu say you now have remote admin working? If so and your still struggling pm me the relevant info over and ill set it up for you.
