arfur mo
hi all, so madam strify now wants an all singing dancing double oven and induction hob, must have a prper programmable timer and self clean liners. ok, now lets say i'm not great as a mathematician or kitchen architect, but i can guess as the new oven is 60cm wide, it is never going to fit into the old slot-in cooker space, being only being 54cm wide. so now i'm needing to shift the kitchen layout around, its a small kitchen, suits us well, i DIY installed it and the original cooker when we bought the place 9 years ago. she being the one she is (and some of you think i'm bad ), she picks out a NEFF double oven but one that don't go under the bleeding worktop. so now i have to house it in a taller cupboard. no problems me thinks, well i am the 6 million dollar neon screwdriver man after all, but wow! wow! wow! have you seen the crazy prices asked for a double oven housing? - made my eyes water as they are £220 - £900 squids with no doors or hinges . from what i've gleaned there is nothing special about them, all the heat insulation is in the cooker walls so as long as it is properly vented, supported and secured that's all the cupboard need to do for me, no titanium liners needed. so i go into a well known shed and ask why so, and get told "that's because they are popular", now you have just got to love the candor of this young sales guy, he did not pause or blink when saying it. so on my way to the contiboard sheets, i spot the kitchen flat packs, thinking i'll modify an existing carcas to save time, when i spot on the side of a box "double oven shelving for midi larder unit". yup!, you can by the shelf adaption for a larder unit, and together the cost is under £100.00, while still not that cheap it will save me a lot of messing about. another 'ruse' they sell the larders for each range all well and good, and they cost from £60 to over £200.00. but there is no doors provided with any of them, so they are all the same box - i might go back and ask that candid sale boy why they charge different prices for the same ruddy box. regs Arfur Mo If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
