norman Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Im sure I read somewhere a contract greater than 5 years would be hard to enforce? Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Guest Oxo Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Not sure never tried beyond 3. Dont DFS do 5 yr HP?
arfur mo Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 iirc, the laws on fair trading and contracts were tightened up over the old photo copier scams, low rental at start then went up extortionately every year, and you could not cancel. many alarm companies traded similar fashion, sold the initial system dirt cheap but then tied clients into a long R&M contract, which doubled at least once every year. also kept ownership of kit, but not the wiring (removal of wiring would mean liability for making good). so if they defaulted, engineer turns up to remove the gear late on a Friday PM, many would then pay up immediately so not risking no alarm over the weekend and so no insurance. them days and most of them firms are long gone or bought out by bigger fish - thankfully. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
