Antsplan Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Hi James I'm a Lead IP Solutions designer for a major Telco and its mainly Cisco products that we use. Can you give me a bit more info on what your trying to achieve and a rough budget and I'll try to help identify a suitable product for you. regards Anthony
Alarm Protection Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Antsplan, I was at a customers house today and he had a flood which took out his smoke sensor and a Cisco unit. I think its a unit so he can get wifi round his house etc. He asked that when he purchases a new one will it have to be programmed as a unit number for it to be recognised in his system or does he just replace and start up the unit. I didnt have a clue but said i would find out. Do you know if its just replace or programmable. Its a thin white unit with the Cisco green round light in the centre. !
MrHappy Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 AP, sounds like a linksys "cisco" home product ? JW, I assume a 800 series is man enough for the task or is something more demanding need ? Mr Veritas God
Alarm Protection Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Thats the one i think Mr Happy! He had 6 of these dotted around the house. !
Antsplan Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 AP I suspect Mr Happy is correct, however I have no real knowledge of these Linksys boxes, apologies. I'm typically working with boxes which run iOS and are programmable from a command line. To James the OP, I'm really keen to hear what you are doing with QoS. I'm a QoS specialist and can def help you with that, if required. A
SoupDragon Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I'm just going to throw this out there. If it's QoS you're after then you might want to look into somethin like pfSense. I currently use a DrayTek in bridge mode with a pfSense box. It's way overkill but it's solid as a rock
