Wireless Alarms

I have installed quite a few wired alarms, mainly Texecom Veritas R8+ systems.

I've been to look at a requirement today and its a brand new property, so I really don't want to have to start running in cables & drilling holes, so a wireless system feels the way to go.

I generally use ADI Gardiner as my supplier, and they don't sell Texecom wireless kit, so what would you recommend I install? They do sell Bosch, Castle, CQR, Honeywell, Scantronic and Visonic.

I really don't want to look at other makes unless there's a major reason as I have a good credit account with ADI and can't frankly be arsed to setup accounts elsewhere as this isn't my core business, though I'm willing to listen to wisdom.

The property is a small new terrace house with kitchen / hall / lounge only on the ground floor.

The customer if possible doesn't want a keypad, just a key fob to turn the system on / off.

Reading other posts regarding wireless and water tanks I gather putting the main unit in the airing cupboard is a bad idea?

All advice appreciated, I do full 24 hour support so I really don't want to be getting up in the night.

As far as I'm concerned I want a decent quality system, for me the cost of the hardware isn't the driving force, quality of kit and reliability is.

Galaxy G2 and RF portal is very reliable and user friendly.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Agreed.

Just think about placement of receivers.

Visonic is good. Galaxy and G2 with TWO portals is excellent.

Texecom new mesh might be even better but not used it.

Galaxy or Visonic your choice.

Do any of these systems support a wired external bell box - they seem to be wireless that I've looked at but as I already have printed alarm boxes (Texecom Odyssey 3E) a wired bell box would make life a bit easier, though I can understand the logic in a wireless box with flats etc where you just can't run wires, but the option would be nice.

just to point out, wireless kit still has its many detractors,

i was a fearsomely against wireless having 'lived' through the earlier dismal attempts, but today it is very reliable and on a par with wired if you weigh up the 'pro's and cons' of interference V damaged cables and loose connections imo.

you do need to replace batteries at regular intervals which is an ongoing cost and an extra inconvenience, and although some boast battery life up to 5 years (Gardtec Risco) this would be a pir in a low traffic area, so i'd recommend @ 2 years maximum.

Personaly find new builds easiest to wire. not taking the p, but maybe ask experienced eng to help?

Still need keypad to get system info.

Look at scanny I-on kit from ADI, new detectors are great if you doing hybrid (the 40) too, as wired/wireless both look same.

Don't know really, only do CCTV so don't cross paths very often, they do claim to have the worlds first Grade 3 Wirefree intruder system, all double dutch to me though. :(

Thought no wireless on G3?
