nicknoxx Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Hi all This is my first post here so be gentle. I've just bought a house with a Risco Wisdom installed . Unfortunately the vendor didn't leave the code or remote fob behind and isn't answering message. Can this alarm be disabled or better , reactivated with a new code? Thanks Nick
Rulland Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Hi all This is my first post here so be gentle. I've just bought a house with a Risco Wisdom installed . Unfortunately the vendor didn't leave the code or remote fob behind and isn't answering message. Can this alarm be disabled or better , reactivated with a new code? Thanks Nick Hi Nick-Yes it can-but it really needs an engineer that knows what they are doing IMHO-service, check progging etc etc.
Alarm Protection Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 The alarm can be reconfigured to your needs but as above i would suggest an engineer visit and a service. These panels use wireless devices and if you dont know when the last service was then replace the batteries for piece of mind and no low battery fault at 3am in the morning. !
nicknoxx Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 I could call an engineer but I've an engineering degree and am fairly at home with electrical, electronic and computery things so I'd like to have a go myself. I tried to download the installation instructions from the Risco website but you need to be a registered installer to log-in website. Has anyone got a link that works? I'd like main module, keypad, supplementary and troubleshooting if possible. Thanks
IAS Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 buy one from an online retailer .......... gives you 7 days to get it sorted (nudge nudge, wink wink)
Guest Oxo Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Could be a reason why you cannot download from the site We certainly are not going to post defaulting info on here. Try reading the site rules. With a degree it should be easy going.
nicknoxx Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 Could be a reason why you cannot download from the site Well, yes. Risco don't want the information to be available to the general public but that doesn't mean it isn't.
james.wilson Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 nick im afraid if you dont know any codes you are going to have to default the panel. for obvious reasons a security forum cammot release info that in the wrong hands can be used to disable a system. once you have codes its a fairly simple process. have you tried asking risco for the manual? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
banjax Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Risco is one of the few companies that dont sell to the public. I have heard that Risco searches sites like Fleabay looking for people claiming to be re-distributers of their products. Any other alarm company dont seem to give a sh!t.. and perspective customers can go on fleabay and search for the cheapest price system while us alarm engineers are trying to make a living and a little profit. I would never give out any Risco engineering info to the public... but as the other manufacturers will give out ant info and sell their wares to Mr Joe Blogs... Then why the hell should I withhold the engineer info? As most manufacturers will willingly give out engineer info to the public. On the same subject: If a customer has an alarm system fitted and they have paid for it outright... They then own the system.. right? So should they not be given all the paperwork including engineer manuals that go with the system? My ex employer insisted that the customer should be given the engineer info and the defualt engineer code left as default... His explanation was: The customer will read the engineer manual then mess about with their alarm system and try to 'adjust' the way I programmed it. 'they will no doubt mess it up and call me out cos they cant fix it.' Thats another callout fee to collect from them!!! lol. Ian. Banjax aka Keiko.
