MrHappy Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I use marker pen, now I've thought of marking up black rg59 with proper cable markers but the only stuff I've ever seen (in the field) is stuff for swa, Mr Veritas God
whistle Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Marker pen here Although we do Dymo label all detectors, rios and PSU on commercial.
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Okay so what's wrong with the old fashioned white insulation tape tags on the cables, a good map/spec in the panel with good descriptions on the keypad and marker pen on expanders?
james.wilson Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 white insulation tape exentually falls off, good map spec is a good idea and is what we do, and we use a label printer for marking expanders, psu etc. A marker pen works well to mark equipment, but in modern times imo it looks naff. We used to use marker pens to mark detectors mind, but some engineers can make it look truly awful securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
sixwheeledbeast Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 white insulation tape exentually falls off ... Exentually??? Well I have never seen that problem using good quality tape. I have swapped out some of our old bentley's etc.. never had a problem. That's all the companies ever used since 197x. As mentioned before its not the cost of the machines, its the tapes and consumables. I suppose white tape gets the job done to NSI approval, that's all that matters. I mean it's inside a panel/expander whose going to see it but fellow engineers? I do admit I would love to use cable idents or tickitape machines but I don't get a say in that, unless I fund all the gear!
Guest Oxo Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I buy my own. On average with swings and roundabouts you get the money back anyway.
