Driller Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 There doesn't seem to be a lot of these around for exterior use compared to their non IR cousins. Are they not very popular due to performance limitations eg IR reflection on the casing?
james.wilson Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Its say its the opposite. There are hundreds. YOu need to be careful which one you use, ie dual glass, decent chipset. Id also recommend getting a brand with a decent warranty period, That gives some confidence on the internals at least. Also use a decent power supply. They should only be used in the right places, ie they cant do what a decent camera with seperate emitter can do, but for the money they do have advantages, thats why they are so popular IMHO http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=mPn&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&q=520TVL+Varifocal+IR&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= Google lists loads securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

Oxford Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 A quick google search revealed most manufacturers have static IR Domes. There are more factors than tvl alone to denote a high quality camera but generally anything over about 480tvl is going to be good quality.
