Suitable candidates will be those people seeking employment, or already employed, in the Alarms or Electrical Installation environment. Ideally, candidates will possess a part qualification in an electrical subject (e.g. C and G 2360 Part 1) but this is not essential. The course follows the City and Guilds SITO 1851 syllabus, which provides the under pinning knowledge for the WORK BASED City and Guilds SITO 1866 NVQ3 in Emergency Alarm Systems. At the end of the course, successful candidates will be invited to undertake the work based NVQ Level 3. This course/qualification is presently being considered for approval by the IIE for Registered Engineering Technician status. Candidates will be able to undertake both of the two options of 'Intruder Alarms' and 'Fire Alarms'. ASSESSMENT 1851-101 1 x 2 hr common Electrical Principles multi-choice paper, set and marked by City and Guilds Option 1 1 x 3 hr Intruder Alarm written examination, set and marked by City and Guilds A formal, supervised Intruder Alarm assignment in 4 parts Option 2 1 x 3 hr Fire Alarm written paper set and marked by City and Guilds A formal, supervised Fire Alarm assignment in 4 parts The common paper with one option satisfies the criteria for the 1851 award, with additional certification for the second option.
