Knowledge of Security and Emergency Alarm Systems

City and Guilds and Security Industry Training Organisation (SITO)

This is a part-time course of one day per week (9 hrs) for two years (30 weeks per year).

Suitable candidates will be those people seeking employment, or already employed, in the Alarms or Electrical Installation environment. Ideally, candidates will possess a part qualification in an electrical subject (e.g. C and G 2360 Part 1) but this is not essential.

The course follows the City and Guilds SITO 1851 syllabus, which provides the under pinning knowledge for the WORK BASED City and Guilds SITO 1866 NVQ3 in Emergency Alarm Systems.

At the end of the course, successful candidates will be invited to undertake the work based NVQ Level 3.

This course/qualification is presently being considered for approval by the IIE for Registered Engineering Technician status.

Candidates will be able to undertake both of the two options of 'Intruder Alarms' and 'Fire Alarms'.

ASSESSMENT

1851-101 1 x 2 hr common Electrical Principles multi-choice paper, set and marked by City and Guilds

Option 1

A formal, supervised Intruder Alarm assignment in 4 parts

Option 2
