drum0 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Hi everyone. -I'm currently researching as i will becoming a sole trader shortly, installing and servicing intruder systems/cctv/access. Is it compulsory to have nsi or ssaib accreditation to provide these basic services? -If i offer monitored keyholder response systems via a independent ARC, what type or level of nsi or ssaib will i need (ie nsi silver/gold) and is it compulsory? -Would i need a higher level of accreditation to offer police response? Hope my questions make sense.
norman Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 where are you based? and no, it's not compulsory to be regulated although it is desired by insurance companies and the Police to obtain a URN. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Thanks for your reply. Based in Solihull/Birmingham area. Does that mean that i could offer keyholder response and not have nsi or ssaib. But if i decided to start offering Police response, i would need nsi or ssaib to be able to obtain URN numbers.
norman Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 yes Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Oxford Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 That was easy, eh!? There is a bit more to it than that but yes you can just get out there and do it. If you want to offer monitoring in the future, it gives you something to work towards.
