Hello

i have a wired system using a 9751 panel. i have had several attempts and also successful breakins in my shed recently at the bottom of my garden. I am looking to install a wireless pir in the shed but want spider rpoof (i am advised?) i have 240 power in shed, so just need to know which pir and transmitter and receiver i require. there is room in area for receiver to be mounted and then wired into free port on chime, so chimes if someone goes in if alrarm not set.

any advice would be greatly apprieciated, apologies for spellings

got a few options depending on what you got hooked up already.

How many expanders do you have? is one of them a RFX (radio expander) if so can add 714 or Xcel pir without any additional kit (Xcel has better range easy get 50m or more assuming direct line of sight etc).

If you dont have RFX, can add one assuming you have spare capacity ie, only have one (or none) HWX expander. then do as above.

if no capacity, then could fit 762 reciever next to control panel and wire into spare zone. then fit 703 transmitter in shed. you can add a contact to door & just use AA batts, or fit mains psu & whatever pir you like.

take spider proof on any pir with pinch of salt, however cetain makes have sealed optics which makes insects less of an issue. optex rx40 eg are pretty immune provided the case isnt distorted on installtaion.

sure they'll be others on with alternatives.

In theory you could use any wireless transmitter/receiver unit and wire it into a spare zone. But for it to be correctly monitored do as Mr P says.

As for spiders, nothing is really spider proof. Make sure all cable/screw entries are sealed up ( Blue Tack works wonders) and spray around the area with a good insecticide. Keep the PIR/QUAD/DT about 2.5 CM from the ceiling, I find that helps as it is less accessible and comfy for the creepy crawlers.

fair do's.

only probs with just a contact on shed, is its too easy to gain access without triggering.

where there has been real probs, have fitted 2 rx40's in parallel with some success (bells only of course).

Sheds are more prone to false alarms from draughts, cats, foxes, birds than spiders, as Oxo says block the holes if you use wired detection, also during summer swish an old paint brush around and behind every few weeks.

I'd opt for pet ressistant type, but also try to ensure to make the shed as secure physically as possible against animals.
