ackers Posted July 26, 2004 Author Posted July 26, 2004 SOUNDS INTERESTING IS THE DSC KIT ANY GOOD? Trade Intruder Member
morph Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 Yes. //.National Installer.// may be the biggest user of it soon, seeing as Tyco now own DSC.
terrycps Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 DSC are great for demestics as you can connect to phone line and it can phone cust mobile phone and tell him what zone is activating, but dont use in commercial as you get problems when expanding beyond 8 zones. I still look after a few but trying to replace with galaxy, by far a much better pannel.
j.paul Posted September 11, 2004 Posted September 11, 2004 but dont use in commercial as you get problems when expanding beyond 8 zones What problems We fitted 100's of them and never had any problems... The only small thing is the tag reader for DD243, this is a add on and not integrated into the system like some of the newer panels.. Upto 32 zones its one of the best panels on the market.. There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
morph Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 but dont use in commercial as you get problems when expanding beyond 8 zones Rubbish, DSC are excellent panels, only problems you get, is engineers who cant get there heads round the programming. Like Jpaul we have fitted loads of these over the years and had no problems. What problems have you had then? Colin.
Brian c Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 Horrible panels. Fair enough, they work well and don't often go faulty, but they're not very engineer friendly are they? Especially in a large installs. External sounders on walktest? All zones clear to exit walktest? having to refer to a manual on most visits unless you memorize all the programming codes? No thanks. I'd rather fit a Premier if it was just for the built in communicator. If you don't know......ask.
norman Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 All zones clear to exit walktest? Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
j.paul Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 but they're not very engineer friendly are they? Well that depends on what you are comparing them too... it normally takes about 10 minutes to programme one up including zone names and arc numbers etc As for "memorize all the programming codes", there are only about six things you need to change... But its like any panel, if you use them all the time they are easy to programme There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
