Regent Cleaning Enters Security Services Market

Britain’s fastest-growing contract cleaning provider, Regent has diversified into the security services market with the acquisition of leading Midlands service provider, Premier Security Services.

£3.5m turnover Leicester-based Premier specialises in tailored security services for commercial and retail environments spanning guarding, patrols, keyholding and systems.

Its consultancy and advisory service additionally devises security programmes tailored to individual client requirements, mixing ground-breaking technologies with traditional, established methodologies.

Coventry-based Regent’s entry to the security market draws both on the successful service model established within its cleaning business and from the security market expertise inherent within its parent company, Samsic Group.

Security is just one of a range of services offered by the £1 billion turnover company, France’s second largest cleaning contractor.

Since its creation in 1986, Samsic has grown into an international force with more than 54,000 employees operating from nearly 230 locations across Europe on behalf of a client bases totaling over 20,000 organisations.

Samsic Security is a £130m turnover business employing 3400 employees at 11 offices across France, providing a wide range of services including guarding, electronic surveillance, fire risk assessment and prevention; porterage and reception staffing, training.

The operating structure of Premier Security Services will be unchanged by the Regent acquisition and the company continues to be managed by directors Andrew Hallam and Gary Sheffield.

"We are very pleased to have Premier Security Services joining us under the stewardship of Andrew and Gary and look forward to progressing our mutual aims for business development in an exciting and challenging marketplace," said Regent joint managing director Jonathan King.

The UK market for security is expected to increase by 1% in nominal terms this year (2010) to nearly £3.3 billion, partly offsetting the 3% decline recorded in 2009, according to the UK Manned Security Market Research Report from MBD.

Slightly stronger annual growth of between 3% and 5% was reported in the years 2006 to 2008, reaching a peak in market value of £3.34 billion in the latter year.

Growth has mainly been driven by the expanding CiT and custodial services sectors, as well as by security guarding companies increasingly offering more integrated security solutions.

The value of the security guarding market is anticipated to increase throughout the five-year forecast period up to 2015, with annual growth levels expected to fluctuate between 2% and 4% in real terms.

In 2015, the value of the market is forecast to reach around £3.75 billion (at 2010 prices), equivalent to an overall growth of 14% in real terms.

"Security is a natural service development for Regent," says Jonathan King.

"We are already proven in successful skills management within a wide range of commercial and public sector environments, an increasing number of whose owners are realising new benefit in sourcing services with complementary needs such as security from a key existing partner."

Now theres a name from the past.

I had a meeting years ago at their offices where they were getting into security, they had gottem involved with guarding and were breaking into CCTV they didnt have a clue. at the time they were on invitation to tender for large town centre CCTV systems without a single engineer. Idea we get the price from jef add the proffit and be the middle man. They made good money same way from cleaning.

You guessed it: I walked away.

Point taken. I have a pall from West Yorkshire and write e-mails the way he speaks. The translation button wont even correct it.
