james.wilson Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Yep battery is shot. But a bit unusual to fail so quick.I thought it was a new system? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
hpotter Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 you're right, except there is nothing like a M & S deep discharge (low sexy voice), unless you want to reverse it. (no, dont mean high squeaky)
arfur mo Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 11 volts at battery? Best you check the battery output voltage with leads to battery disconnected, you should see ideally 13.65 volts (optimimum for many batteries). Reasonable DVM's don't round up to the extent you mention, it would be in the hundredths if not thousandths of a volt. Was the battery you fitted old stock? As They do discharge over a period if time. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
Guest Oxo Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Just been back to the system & I took the voltages. 14v at battery terminals in panel with battery dis-connected Marcus
Alarm Protection Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I maybe wrong but i think its the panel.......not charging up battery. !
james.wilson Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 11v at battery terminals in panel with battery connected 14v at battery terminals in panel with battery dis-connected Reakon charging is ok from that. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Rulland Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I reckon battery duff!-14v on charging circuit, output dropping to 11v when battery connected, and battery alone showing 6v-battery dragging it down imo. Mains fail you'll get probs with only 6v backup.
mib150 Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 Reakon charging is ok from that. As I was leaving the house, with the battery in my hand, the power light on the keypad went out. Further investigation lead me to find a loose connection in the mains supply circuit. (this explains the 'deep discharge' ) I've sorted this & replaced the battery, so hopefully everything should be OK now?? Sorry for being such an :*******: many thanks for all your help and advice. I'll let you know how things are in the next day or so. again Marcus
