arfur mo Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 A new neighbour has had his van broke into and tools stolen 4 times within a month. He has now installed his own home brew trip wire, which will set off several blank shotgun cartridges. While I have suggested van vaults, park tight to Walls have a thatcham alarm installed and decent locks (i won't touch vehicle alarms), and i have warned him he could face prosecution if any intruder or passer by is injured, or hearing impaired by the bangs, he don't seem to care all that much. Part if me is scared shatless, another part just can't wait to see if they do him again . Don't know if I'd fit an MB in a confined space, any innocent person setting it off could suffer real stress or injury from an accident caused by the sudden very loud noise, Iirc 145 db? Public halls are limited to 90 db for music, I'd worry about possible consequences. Sound bombs are very effective for this need, don't rely on mains and carry less chance of injury in this litigation laden ambulance chasing society, we all now live in. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

mma Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Is it close to any houses? would get him to use Fobs. I'd say codes were a security risk. you can tell people you code. I've installed a blasted in a workshop. the owner can hear it go off over a mile away. could be a problem if people live near by.
jb-eye Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 down side = pencil, or knock mains off before entry etc... Hate them but if we have to they are linked out on enginners programme entry.Merseyside (Liverpool) Police are still 10 minuite bell delay. IMO good policy in certain criteria. Customers!

IMO good policy in certain criteria. dont get that down here anymore, assume cos gives impression immediate response rather than time to finish bacon butty.. agree good policy if can be backed up by response, not sure how goes in priority chain. I may sound cynical, but bit like purpose of urn... ..these days purpose for risk assessment. I have 2 x MB's fitted on my house along with 2 x bells. 2 up, 2 down?
