PeterJames Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 xvision is geovision, Yk3 re branded their version of geovision as xvision, they are the only two client software that will work with the xvision dvr and it will depend on the software and hardware version as to which client software will work
arfur mo Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 in that case unfortuately, i think you have come to the end of the line in your quest, Peter says it is a bespoke version f geovision, made for Y3k then your options are very limited. i have used the original geovision over dial up PSTN, som 15 years ago, and surprisingly good it was tbh on 8n cameras, i assume remote access is over internet, but even locally on the network it depends how many at one time are accessing the dvr, how many dvr screens at once (more boxes more work for dvr processor, and what other traffic the network is handling (the bottleneck could wel be the network switch as example). those who are accessing may not be logging out when they are not actually using it, so causing higher bandwidth 'pulls' from the DVR than neded. to put it in a mechanical format (for your client), say you have 10 taps feeding from a 1/2" pipe, turn any tap on and water pours out, now turn 2 or more taps on and less water flows from each because the pipe restriction can't passenough water, same happens electronically with network traffic. if this is a new instal you may have to 'man up' and say is simply not be capable to do what they want., so were you made aware so many users were required to view simultaneously? if no, that is your 'get out' to soften the blow. if they really need option then a better internet upload conection 1st, and/or dvr is required. one other way of remote viewing software occurs, might be via 'gotomyc.com', this wil mean pc's being left on, and your still going to have bandwidth issues on a slow uplaod conection if to many users simultaneously start viewing, but might be smoother option over internet access. remmember, if anyone is pulling down recordings to a remote pc, that will simply kill available bandwidth, and all vewing likely becomes very jerky as a result. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
digitalwitness Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 What model Xvision do you have? Each manufacturer have their own codecs in the video streams so generally only the manufacturers software will work with the DVR. Also the code being each button on the software differs from DVR to DVR manufacturer. Multiple users been able to log in, is primarily controlled by the DVR itself and not the software. Be aware that most DVRs will only allow one administrator logged in at a time to prevent conflicts if changing menus simultaneously but will allow multiple user log-ins. Xvision have not used Geovision for about 5 years afaik, so if your DVR is relatively new or is a standalone type then its not geovision. Knowing which model Xvision you have, I may be aware of alternative software that you could try (as someone has already mentioned, there are more brands than manufacturers).
james.wilson Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 It's a bottom end dvr so it will not be as flexible as a higher grade unit. The software you seek is available but will only support higher end more pro machines.
