arrynev Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Hi all, We have an alarm system called AD Optima compact. It was in our house when we moved in. When I power up it goes off and I cannot stop it whatever I try. I have tried all the usual, resets but get nowhere, it does not respond to Factory reset or engineers code. I need a way to reset it or clearing the NVM, any help appreciated.
james.wilson Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 You can clear the nvm but for security reasons we cannot discuss it on a public forum. You can get an engineer to do this but it might be cheaper to replace it. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
9651 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Very simple for an engineer. Be looking at an hour labour (tops) + new battery and any advisories
Oxford Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Where are you based? May be a local eng on here could sort it for you.
arfur mo Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Classic fault on these panels, and why it should go in the bin soon as IMHO Taking all prudent electrical safety precautions , if you have to ask about them - stop reading here! Ensure mains us disconnected. Open panel, disconnect old battery buy new one from maplins etc. Appx <£20 Being careful, power up with battery still disconnected (i just bet someone aske's me why). enter code to silence (assuming you know this before you start - or return to go). wait about 5 mins (just trust me;) ) connect new battery + is Red lead - is black lead close lid press 'reset' Should now be ok and showing power light if old battery was duff, please test detection and sirens to be sure, cal in alarm engineer to advise you properly of updates and improvements. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

Arfur Thanks, but I don't know the code, can I try something else?
alterEGO Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Thanks, but I don't know the code, can I try something else? No The battery charging circuit may also be damaged, you need an engineer.
arfur mo Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 As above No! if it was easy to over come the code the intruders would be doing it. Not a given the charging circuit is faulty, but it is not a most robust panel in that respect, so it is best advice to have a call by an engineer. Post your area see if there is a local engineer who may sttend Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
james.wilson Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 as above there is a way to wipe it but for security reasons we cant allow it to be discussed on the public side of this board. Due to other potential damage as noted etc, id suggest you have 2 options. 1. Call a local specialist 2. Replace it. The G3, was replaced by the Gen4 Optima and can be bought for less than £30 securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Guest DAVID Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 we have followed your instructions as below -at least twice .replaced the battery and we still have a "single " beep every 5 minutes . Your advice please .Is it more than just a replacement battery???
