mousecalledjerry Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I am hoping somebody can give me some help with a clients alarm system, he has purchased a new shop and it has an existing alarm system but the control pannel display does not appear to work, I have checked the connections and the pannel is only getting 1.5v from the alarm box. I have never used a galaxy 16+ system before as normally work with x86 based alarm systems, its not currently connected to a telephone line, and the gprs service is disconnected, he would like to keep the galaxy system as the shops only just been decorated and if I fit a new control pannel it wont be the same size and will make a mess of the decor. I can provide more information if required
james.wilson Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 It has a major problem it should be outputting 13-7 ish volts coould be a faulty piece of equipment dragging it down, failed psu, battery, fuse etc. Id look at that first because if you cant get the voltage right then its for the recycling im afraid. good panel for its day mind securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
arfur mo Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 i don' use the make, but if you get a later panel it may well come in a bigger box for EN G3 graded battery life needs, or i'm sure you could order it in that flavour. i guessing, but if you do really know what your doing and reasonably adept with this make of panel, alternatively could you mount the new 'guts' in the old case to save the decor? lots of ways to skin a cat . Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
Guest Oxo Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 The newer panels are slighty larger. Assuming you have the 6 ah case 395x 81x 251 17ah 415x 81x 251 New GD size panel 440x 90x 352 All LxBxH. So in theroy they will cover all old markings.
mousecalledjerry Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 thank you for the advice, i am going to check all attached sensors and sirens as the battery voltage is ok and the power supply is outputting the correct voltage, failing that i will swap out the guts with a replacment galaxy 16 plus (i was speaking with the neighbouring shop and they said they no longer used their "galaxy 16 plus" system and they have said we can have anything out of it that we may need).
james.wilson Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Yes that is one option, but the old galaxy panels were quite hard so if check outputs etc before condemning it securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
