amnlincoln Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Definitely no power cut and it has happened the last 3 nights and last week during the last cold spell
Guest Oxo Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Forget the resistor. Cut the track indicated.
arfur mo Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Both will work, but you can fit the resistor in the panel, saves all the working at height hassle of ladders. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
Guest Oxo Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Errrrrrrrrrrr nope, an thats what the MAKERS say.
arfur mo Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Makers state engineer fix, why PDF is password protected, don't think they would be very wise to advise end users to tackle external siren modifications, due to risks outlined earlier. They would not know if users siren us 10, or 100 foot up on a block of flats in the high street, this op migt decide to offer his service's. So IMHO a bit dangerous advising a non combatant to cut the pcb where he could make a mistake, siren damaged, maybe won't stop and system out if action, even if Risco Tech have dropped their guard. Just wondering - if o/p has a neon screwdriver? Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
amnlincoln Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Well thought I would update this. Everything went to plan, the track is cut and the siren is reconnected and working normally. Found the whole process relatively easy luckily although I can understand why most people would want an engineer to do it. I don't have a neon screwdriver but the circuit for the alarm was isolated and all the battery backups were removed. I think I got it done just in time as well as the Environmental Protection services are now issuing 1 hour notices on out neighbours to sort out the alarms. I have given them the instructions but I doubt that (m)any will give it a go. So thanks for all the help and advice, you've certainly saved me a few quid!
Guest Oxo Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Well done on the "fix" Using the correct info of course. Not difficult if using the correct information and tools. Thanks for the reply, not many do so. Happy Xmas ( Well it is close)
Adi Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 had a call out to one this week, cut track. Is the 2k2 resistor another dream or does it work. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.
amnlincoln Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 One last update from me. Cut the track on 3 of my neighbours alarms tonight (3 hours in the freezing cold!) and we now have silence. Many thanks for everyones help. Fingers crossed I'll get a good nights sleep tonight.....
