james.wilson Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 More than 70 firefighters were required to tackle a huge blaze in Coventry that ripped through car repair workshops. The Coventry Telegraph reports that 13 fire engines were called to B&A Garages on Friday as a blaze consumed six cars and 500 tyres. Smoke was visible from the city centre, while a series of small explosions occurred at the workshops, where acetylene cylinders were stored. In total four workshops – each leased to a different business – were ruined by the blaze. Although the cause of the fire is not yet known, a full investigation is set to start once the building is made safe. Farid Hussain, a mechanic who leases a workshop next to the one where the fire started, told the newspaper: "I couldn't believe what I saw when I got back. There's tyres, cylinders and all sorts in those units that if they caught fire it could be so dangerous. "This morning it seemed like we had everything and now we have nothing." Hundreds of people from the surrounding area had to be evacuated until firefighters were sure that the area was safe. from securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
