james.wilson Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 A landlord in a Kentish pub has praised the efficacy of the establishment's fire alarm system, after a fire broke out. The Gillingham-based pub suffered a chimney fire that a caused the establishment to close just days before the busy Christmas period. Fire broke through to a roof void at the Harrow Inn on Saturday (December 18th), leaving the landlord, Christopher Orme, relieved he installed the fire alarms earlier this year. Mr Orme said that it was due to the fire alarms that there were no injuries caused by the blaze. "Our business has had to close temporarily, which is very unfortunate, especially given the time of year," he said. "But the system we had in place meant thankfully no one was injured and hopefully we will be able to reopen in few months." Kent Fire and Rescue sent six appliances to the blaze from nearby stations; the emergency services warned pub landlords to be wary of chimney fires. from securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
