james.wilson Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 A leisure centre in Swindon went up in flames on Saturday (December 18th), emphasising the necessity of conducting a thorough fire risk assessment. The blaze started in Lime Kiln Leisure Centre in Wootton Bassett, where it is thought a fire spread from the sauna area of the spa to sections of the roof, reports the Swindon Advertiser. Firefighters from all over the county tackled the blaze from around 10.00, including appliances from Wootton Bassett, Swindon, Ramsbury, Marlborough, Calne, Chippenham and Devizes. They were on the scene for about 24 hours. Around 12 people were evacuated from the building, but there were no injuries. A fire risk assessment is a prerequisite for all commercial buildings and buildings in multiple occupation (HMOs), if they are to comply with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Simon Routh-Jones, deputy chief of Wiltshire Fire and Rescue, told the regional newspaper: "Chemicals were originally of a concern but none were involved in any way." from securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
