james.wilson Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 i might use that port for outward comms, doesnt mean it needs to be forwarded. If it does then its a bad idea imo securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

arfur mo Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 NO! That surprised me a bit, the Tx polls the ARC, so the ARC knows the path is ok, but how will the panel know for local warning needs, unless it us 'polled' back by the ARC? It could monitor network connectivity, but that don't prove the ARC is fully on line and being signalled surely? Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
james.wilson Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Arf, a packet can be a 2 way thing without port forwarding. for instance do you have port 80 forwarded to your pc? if not how on earth does the data from the webserver make it to your browser??? hope you see my point. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
norman Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 doubt it. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
