Frommo Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Looking to wire a second bell box at the back of the house into a galaxy dimension, but to save on cable run tried to wire it into a rio which is only a few feet away. The bell box is a texecom oddysey 3e. I have worked everything out except where to put the resistor on the tamper circuit. Tried putting the return from the bell box tamp connection to the panel through a 1k resistor but keep getting a high reisistance reading, the only way i could get it to work was to take the tamper return from one side of the microswitch through a 1k resistor back to the panel bypassing the tamp connection on the bell box pcb. Is this ok or is there a better way to do it ?
james.wilson Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Ideally you want to use a relay, but you might be able to modify the resistor value. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
Guest Oxo Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Pull the Tamper straight off the micro switches. Drop the negative return. Had to do this on early oddy3`s with M series panels, they just didnt get along together.
alterEGO Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Can't you just prog an Aux input as bell tamper..........................and ppl wonder why we don't use them
james.wilson Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 no it needs a resistor cant do double pole etc on a gal securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
alterEGO Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 no it needs a resistor cant do double pole etc on a gal The prem has an AUX input, not a zone. Can be progged as many things.
whistle Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 We have done this on smart Rio's and always fitted a RB007 type relay.
james.wilson Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 the gal has one 2 but can only be a tamper at the panel lol securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
alterEGO Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 the gal has one 2 but can only be a tamper at the panel lol lol. waste of time. We have done this on smart Rio's and always fitted a RB007 type relay. we have a couple of sites with the same setup, scanny and gal.
Guest Oxo Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 No need for a relay. Wish people would read posts and not assume.
