Guest dale Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Well, my Texecom Premier I think is the bees knees. Those nice engineers they poached from Menvier have built an excellent system! I think for the price and features the Texecom Premier beats Galaxy hands down. Have used the Veritas series for a number of years and my customers are happy with there systems, and they are one of the best low-end panels on the market. I would much rather have a Texecom VR8 than a Pyronix, or Scany any day. As for those cheap Texecom sensors (Medusa), they are one of the most popular on the market - ok the brackets dont meet any standards (im sure youve noticed!) but they are ideal sensors. Ok I dont have any in my house as I went for Texecom Dual Techs, but I trust Texecom enough to buy all the security I have in my house from them, and never had any problems or regrets, neither have any of my customers. If anything is ever wrong the tech support sort it out quickly or the wholesaler exchanges it.
bellman Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Hi Dale, Each to their own mate, I just rip em out and replace em, as i've said numerous times before, I had my fingers VERY badly burnt with texecom gear and it cost me a LOT of money to put right I'll NEVER use ANY of their equipment again. If your "Budget concious" shall we say, then go for it. I know which one I prefer.... I'll laugh my butt off when it fries at 3 in the morning and wakes all the neighbours up. And agreed Dale, the Medusa and the reflex are the bigest seling pasives on the market and yeah, the mounting brackets do leave a lot to be desired..... (including British standards) (I wonder if that's why there is so many false alarms ) At the end of the day, it boils down to price, The question you should ask yourself is "how much is all my stuff worth to me" and then use that as reference... I don't skimp on my house security as if you've ever been burgled you'll have the place fastened up like fort knox. Just like my pad here... although I must admit, the sign on the gate scares most off .... Service Engineer and all round nice bloke ) The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.
Guest Adrian Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 B) Well I may not install Texacom stuff, But I have found them easy to use and program in the past. Funy thing is I have never had to go back to any of the ones I have installed in the last 4 years. But I will say this nearly all the call outs I have ever had to systems installed by someone else, Have been either Texacom or ADE panels. ( and once a premia 9 by CQR / thank god the customer had the eng manuel, As I never knew that CQR had ever made a wired panel befor.) Adrian B)
Guest dale Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Try the Premier panel, they are nothing like the Veritas range, they are similar to the Menvier panels (feature wise). Im slowly ripping out the Pyronix Sterling 10's I installed for many family members a few years ago and replacing them with Premier 816's. I would never touch Pyronix again, and do try and avoid suggesting Veritas to customers, but the Premiers are in a legue of their own.
bellman Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Adrian, Thats probably because some dodgy sparkie saw the texcom or ade cheep at the local electrical wholesalers for thirty quid and thought they'd make a fast buck by flogging it to some poor hapless punter... Guest dale Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 I admit im a bit possesive with my Premiers and do lock the engineer code in, purely so other engineers dont go playing with the system, as most of the cowboys cant work these out and get totaly stumped if they try and default it! Of course if the customer want the panel engineer code unlocking we change it for free, although its not happened yet!
bellman Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Premier, poor mans rip off of the Menvier stuff. They even sunk so low as to pilfer some of the menvier tech guys.... It dosn't matter what u dress it up as though, sh*te is still sh*te.... Guest Adrian Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 B) Bellman Your right I did a leaflet drop on an estate with about 300 houses on it (none below £150 k) all six years old and full of Texacom panels, My phone hasn't stoped ringing with faults from that estate, Its great. Adrian B)
Guest mw101 Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 ok fair point you fitted many more than me,so i take your opinion on reliabilty, for the record i fitted the sterling at home, before replacing it with a menvier 2500 the idea of 3 different chimes appealed ,but i do still use the pyronix vocaliser with no prob's still tickle's me now to ring home and torment the dog mark
bellman Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Adrian, Let me guess, all fitted by the electrical contractor........ Perhaps i should go into fitting extra sockets and showers, or perhaps telephone stuff after all, it still has wires and i've still got my big hammer and big drill from my install days LOL.....
