Guest yoghurt Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Hello I have a scantronic 9651 system with 2 keypads (9930 item code?) The downstairs keypad, purchased Jan 2006 is getting pretty hard to push the keys-several times now we have set the alarm off whilst trying to input the PIN. I have not opended it up yet but is there anything I can do to improve things ( apart from moving any dust etc)? Many thanks Yoghurt
james.wilson Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 yes. you can replace it, with a another keypad or open it up and clean the carbon tracks behind the rubber membrane. Ideally you should power it down and use alcohol and cotton buds. Or just use a rubber (as in an eraser before the comedians jump in) securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.

Guest yoghurt Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Many thanks-will give it a try Out of interest when you say power down do you mean just turn off the circuit in the fusebox that supplies it? (as opposed to some keypad entries to put it to sleep?) Not seen anything in the manuals Will get the alcohol and rubbers out!!!! sorry thought id get it in there first. have a play with that instead
Guest Oxo Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Remove the spur fuse and disconnect the battery. And hope its not on engineer reset for tampers.
Guest Yoghurt Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Got it-thank you Remove the spur fuse and disconnect the battery. And hope its not on engineer reset for tampers.
PeterJames Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Remove the spur fuse and disconnect the battery. And hope its not on engineer reset for tampers. Be aware that the external sounder will/should start ringing when you do this, my advice would be not to do anything you are not confident with, you may end up worse off than you were to begin with
Guest Oxo Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 A valid point but it should cut out within 15/20 mins. Just warn the neighbours your working on it. Otherwise you`lll need a ladder.
arfur mo Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Remove the spur fuse and disconnect the battery. And hope its not on engineer reset for tampers. Outside siren should sound at this point, so best done at a reasanable time if day. Tbh, 2006 it is way overduedue a maintenance, likely needs a battery, so best advice is organise a maintenance and let a trained insured engineer fo the job. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
