james.wilson Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Seven schools in the east Lancashire area have failed fire safety checks, emphasising the need for comprehensive fire risk assessments. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service issued the schools with enforcement notices after inspections found they did not meet current fire regulations, reports the Lancashire Telegraph. If the schools are not judged to have acted in response to the enforcement notices, the Responsible Person at the establishment may be prosecuted with a fire safety order. Some of the deficiencies in the schools included poorly planned emergency routes and inadequate fire detection and alarm systems. Richard Stott, the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service investigation and enforcement manager, told the regional news provider that, due to the large amount of schools in the area, that some would poor fire safety was "inevitable". "Schools in Lancashire generally have an excellent fire safety record and meet the requirements of the law," he said. All business establishments, including schools, must conduct a fire risk assessment to make sure they comply with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. from securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
