as your a trade member we can host of free of charge for you. Assuming you already have a domain name.

re wordpress, i wouldnt unless you want to update the site often. If you want a static site then id advise an easy application to creater it instead

Hi James,

I Have not got the domain name yet, and its not security trade related, i'am setting up an events company as I have got involved in organising sporting events (more of an hobby than a money maker!)

I wanted to try and use wordpress because news regarding events etc will need regular updating, but I have had a look and everyone says how eas it is but there is no actual guide that I can find! from what I gather, I downlaod wordpress, upload it to the htdocs file on a server, install it, (not sure if any of that is right!) but then what? how do i obtain a template and customise it, edit it etc?

I have made static site before using html, have a look at www.liverpoolbugs.co.uk that is my running club. really basic site, just trying to make the events site look a bit more professional, if not wordpress what else would you recommend?

Thanks Mark

mark re hosting, doesnt need to be security related really but i was expecting them to be, as long as they are not dodgy sites etc.

Wordpress might be the way to go. Rich is probably the best re good layouts etc, but it is pretty simple once your used to it. I just dont like it lol.

meaning if they are porn events, james wont host, but can we have tickets :)

Dreamweaver is good and easy enough to use.

I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

Thanks James, thats great mate and very much appreciated, I have found a site that explains installation of wordpress step by step http://www.optiniche.com/blog/300/wordpress-install-video/ seems pretty straight forward!

what is the best way to register a dmain name? in the past I have always just used companies like streamlinenet to provide domain registration & hosting. Also how do I go about setting it up to work with your server etc (as you can see I know about as much about this as I do Paxton!)

If you could email me the details m4rkc@hotmail.com or pm me that would be great.

Thanks again James

Sorry the porn events sell out really quickly so no free tickets! but if any get returned I will give you the nod ;-) lol

No just kidding definately no porn events, the wife would kill me! but what i will be hosting is 5k, 10k running events, and a few novelty events(you will see what I mean in due course)

I Have heard dreamweaver is good....but wordpress is free!
