arfur mo Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 i wouldnt say risco stuff was diy friendly Agreed, they take some learning at first use The panel comes with a 'quick start' guide not a full engineer manual. Bit daft really as engineers familiar with GardTec don't need an idiots guide, and 'newbs' will not have enough info from the idiots guide. As for you to 'play with' it's not meccano, Lego or your project car, it is however what ever panel you use a serious bit of kit, protecting what is seriously of value to you. Best advice? If you want the best from it use, trust and pay for an experienced and very serious engineer - end of! Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

arfur mo Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Engineers can get hard copies, and if have a Gardetec account can get them in PDF. Why they don't somply supply the full manual on a mini cd beats me though . Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
alterEGO Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 neither risco nor texecom do wireless smokes ? Risco do.
Guest Gordon Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Well, that's me decided Texe 24 or 48 will meet my needs fine by the looks of it and after taking the front off my Challenger 5 control panel thankfully all the cables are 6 core so adequate for the job. I got hold of the Texe install manual and all but 4 wires are obvious swaps. I am going to fit a Ricochet wireless at the same time to expand the system and to provide for future proofing, does anyone know the size of the Ricochet Premier Smartkey, it looks massive but I assume that's just the photos and it's really about the size of the standard keyring? Thanks Gordon
Guest Gordon Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I've been watching your comments with interest, I've decided not to give myself any warranty!! LOL I ordered my Tex 48 and everything else today, I'll stick with the standard smoke alarms!! Gordon
