wouldnt bother with engineers code, just crash & re-prog.

given size of job & your experience with panel(?), keypad should be straightforward.

Just another quick question - atm the keypad has the original installers company name on the keypad. I can't find a command for setting this? is this software only function?

It'll be an engineer programming function

Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.

Finally got round to sorting this out this week, everything is working as required now but the house owner wants to add another PIR at the opposite end of the garage.

What's the best procedure for powering down while i do the wiring/connecting, and then applying power once i'm done?

best proceedure is to do all the wiring and connecting bar the panel end, then enter eng code, knock the mains, open panel connect zone pair (& tamp if 4wire), prep 12v pair, get customer to stand at front door, dis battery, quickly connect 12v pair, power up battery, enter user code, enter eng code, prog new zone, button up panel, walk test, trigger, present invoice, collect cash.

thats not how i'd do it though, i'd work backwards. collect cash, present invoice...

Ok, got that sorted. Thanks for the reply.

I have a new question now though - i've noticed that the internal sounder doesn't operate when Partitions B, C, or D go in to alarm. I had a good read of the book and i can't make sense of it?

Command 161 states that "In a partitioned system, the internal sounder is available only for Partition A; other partitions use keypad sounders only"

If this is the case what is the point of command 63...

63: Level/Partition B Alarm Response

This command sets the alarm response for Level or Partition B.

In a single system, the options are:

Option

0 Keypad sounders only.

1 Internal sounders and keypad sounders (default).

2 Local alarm (internal and external sounder only).

3 Full alarm (communication and internal/external sounders).

In a partitioned system, the options are:

Option

0 Keypad sounders only.

1 Local alarm (internal and external sounder only).

2 Full alarm (communication and internal/external sounders) (default).

Am i missing something obvious here?

just thinking too hard. we're alarm engineers....

cmd161 to do with confirmed alarm. leave as default (op 0)

cmds 63/73/77 set as option 2.

Thanks hpotter....

i've checked and double checked the settings on each command and they match what you said but the internal speaker still only sounds when Partition A goes in to alarm.

Partitions B, C and D only sound the Keypads and external box.

Due to the locations of the keypads and size of the premises, when the alarm is going off, there are areas of the house where you can barely hear it so i have to get it working somehow. :hmm:
