Guest Rachael Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Is it possible to set an alarm on the Optima Compact without the code. I changed the access code when we moved in however am unsure what that code is now. If I were to try the access code I think it would be, would it trigger the alarm or will I get three attempts?

You WILL trip the tamper alarm after so many attempts. Best bet is try two guesses of the number it may be, after that contact a local engineer to help you out. Don't leave it until the alarm trips and you need the code!
9651 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 ^ This, very simple panel for an engineer to get around, wont cost a lot to default it back for you
Guest Rachael Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 If I dont have engineer code too as I think I changed that one too(!) will an engineer still be able to reset it?
Rulland Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 If I dont have engineer code too as I think I changed that one too(!) will an engineer still be able to reset it? Easy peasy........
Guest Rachael Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 If I also try the engineer code by using 'prog' and keying in possible code will the alarm be tripped by excessive attempts or will it just not recognise the code and return to day mode? I will attempt the access code shortly but if I can get the engineer code right I can prob reset the access code myself. thanks for replies so far by the way

The old Optima compact generates a full alarm condition after 19 invalid key presses.
Guest Rachael Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Thanks will call someone tomorrow - not worth the risk!

arfur mo Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Would say, a panel which is very easy to overcome with only a little knowledge. Better than nothing obviously but be bĂȘtter to get it changed to a more robust panel, and have advantages like fobs (can't forget the code then ) and voice dialler to call you or your keyholder if it activates. Arfur If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
