ryan042000 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Hi there newbi here does any one know if it is possible to connect to a com2400 using wintex and a normal adsl modem over the phone line as I'm having problems working out how to connect main purpose is for remote reset and status monitoring for our home system when away to avoid leaving acsess to our neighbor as they are elderly and don't want them endangering them selfs in the night resetting the alarm we are awere of activations through SMS any help would be great thanx
A-G Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Have you thought this through carefully? You are presuming that an activation would be a false alarm ..... but suppose it's a burglary? .... and the burglar is just about to run away when you stop the alarm sounding? . . . PM me for access to the SSAIB members discussion area.
ryan042000 Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 Yes I have microphones fitted and a confirmed protocol in place and a shock sensor fitted to the entry point which Is the ony wan into the property so am able to tell a false alarm within a few seconds of activation also have access to CCTV within the property which I can acsses remotly Also it would aloe me to reset the system if the kids activated it accidentally while I'm not on the premises as I refuse to grant them full accsses to the system they can only arm an dis arm reset is not a facility they require if they are doing what they are sposed to be doing if you know what I mean reset is restricted after a confirmed alarm and anti codes are required
MrHappy Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 so am able to tell a false alarm within a few seconds of activation also have access to CCTV within the property which I can acsses remotly SMS can take a long time to reach you, often it won't! For you dial into the system using the com2400, you will need an old fashioned external modem where adsl is present on the fixed telephone line(s) I would use a hardwired adsl filter for the alarm whilst a multitech modem will work with the plug in type you get bundled with a router Mr Veritas God
ryan042000 Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 Ok I get that can you explain how I dial in to the com2400 with a normal modem or setting up the modem in wintex
