sixwheeledbeast Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I have wired a alarm system at my home. Can I get the advice on using staples to attached the wires. Will I get a false alarm if the wire has a staple in it? Alarm wiring can be installed using special round cable staples with a special gun. Normal staples will potentially damage the cable. If you have stapled through a cable this could cause a false alarm, due to damaging the insulation or the conductor. The cable would need checking/repairing and then testing. If you know were a cable is damaged this is helpful as generally the hardest/longest part is finding the cable damage.
