Guest Phil Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Hi all, Recently installed a Veritas 8 alarm panel. I have got it wired to to 5 PIRs on separate zones giving me 5 zones, and the bell box is all wired in. Everything is fine apart from when I set the alarm and leave, on re-entry, it doesn't give me any time to put my code in, as soon as I walk in the door the PIR picks me up and sets the alarm off. For now I have took the fuse out for the bell box so it doesn't wake neighbors up if I come home late at night, and it takes literally 2 seconds to punch my code in and the buzzer from the panel stops. The PIR is on zone 2 and when I put my code in zone 2 lights up, indicating where I have set it off coming in. From the manual I have set this zone to entry/exit, all the others to guard. As from what I can see the entry/exit delay time should be at the factory set 30 seconds. Setting the panel and exiting the house is not a problem, but on re-entry the alarm sets off as soon as the PIR picks me up! Could it be that zone 2 needs a delay time programing into it, and if so how do you do this, as I cannot find anything about it in the manual! for the help guys, Phil.

From memory Zone 1 is the entry/exit zone. The PIR that is detecting your presence when you come home should be connected to Zone 1 not zone 2. The entry/exit timer operates on zone 1 by default.Hope this helps

If you only have 5 PIR's and no door contact, the hall PIR has to start the timer which it isn't. If so the Hall PIR should be Zone 1 programmed as Entry/Exit (for both full and part set) All other zones should be Guard unless otherwise required. Go over the programming manual and check for... Final Door Set = off Zone 1 (Hall) = Entry/Exit Zone 1 (Hall) = Entry/Exit Part Set. Entry and Exit Times are 30 ish seconds
