Bruno Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I am looking for general advice on choosing panels and alarm hardware in general. I am fairly new to alarms and to date have installed less than 10 systems (all Texecom Veritas variations) and in domestic situations. Would be interested to hear the opinions of other forum members on this equipment, or their recommendations for domestic and small business applications. Bruno

Texecom Stuff is good kit, use all of there control equipment range from Veritas through to Premier 640. In a large domestic/commerical situation I wouldn't fit anything less than a Premier 48.

Bruno I've got hundreds of bells only alarms with Veritas panels .... and hundreds of larger systems with Premier panels, mainly monitored. Texecom stuff is reliable and useable. ... but the Veritas panels are falling behind other panels and Texecom have no plans to update them. You can now buy others at the same price that offer better value cos they've got newer features, eg. fobs, better event logs, LCD screens, Etc. (Yes, I know the Excel has an LCD screen but it's pants cos it's an analogue panel trying to run a digital keypad!) ...... so if I was starting out now I doubt I'd use Veritas panels. . . . PM me for access to the SSAIB members discussion area.

Monty Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 we use Menvier M600/800/2000 and scantronic Ion 16/40/160 and have found both ranges to be reliable and cost effective in most cases so wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to All from new to experienced Installers www.AllanMoncrieffAlarms.com
Alarm Protection Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Weve been using Gardtec Risco for the past 8 years and found it to be good. Mostly the 490x,595 and 872 for larger installs. The wireless add ons are good.Takes a while to get your head round the programming when first using it but after a few installs its ok. For the past couple of wireless jobs the Scantronic 1-on16 has been installed and it also is a good user friendly bit of kit. Im going to have a look at Texecom Ricochet soon. !
9651 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 We use a mix of Texecom/Galaxy/Scantronic. If your used to the Texe terminology I'd crack on with the Premiers, I really like them
