thornga Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Hi All, I have bought a house with a old Abacus 6 alarm panel (red LED). It all works fine I just cannot fathom how to change the default master code. I have the Abacus LED User instructions and it details how to 'change your own user code'. By pressing 1 in step 9, this sets a new user code which works. However the problem is anybody can still unset the alarm with the defualt master. I have also read the user manual but it appears you need a remote panel to change it. So I dont have a remote panel is it possible to change the default master without a remote panel? I have phoned some local companies and nobody wants to touch it as it was fitted in 1994. Does any body have any thoughts how I can change this so I can have a secure system. Thanks Gary

I do not think you will get the answer to your question here, as it is against the forum rules to give that type of information out. If all else fails to find the master code, it might be worth considering a new alarm panel, there is probably a certified installer on this forum that is in your area. John.
PeterJames Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Any user can be set as a Master code on the abacus 6 if your code lets you change codes then its a master code. Code 1 is the main code if you change all the other codes and keep code one as your own you will have deleted the code you think is the master code by default.
thornga Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 Hi, The old owner of the house told me the defaul master code, he obviosuly never worked out how to change it either! Peter I think I understand what you are saying and i will give it a go. If that fails it will have to be a new panel . thnaks for the replies Gary
