Guest Jon Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I have a Scantronic 9449 hardwired system using EE plus 5 pir controlled zones. After many years I changed the battery (a power cut confirmed that the battery was useless) but since then I have been unable to set the alarm. Nothing shows on the panel except the power light but when I set the alarm I get flashing zones 6 and 7 (which are unused) and instead of setting the alarm then sounds and has to be cancelled. Any suggestions as to how I could fix this gratefully received!
miaren Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Sounds to me as though the system needs a complete reprogramming through Engineer mode. It's defaulted itself to factory setting...IMHO
sixwheeledbeast Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 It's defaulted itself to factory setting...IMHO This is my first guess also. You can link out the spare unused zones in the panel with alarm wire, this will get the alarm working for full set.

Thanks for the advice. I'd be grateful for a pointer to engineer control commands specifically around defining unused zones. Jon
Guest Jon Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 As in my previous post I'd be grateful for some advice about how I can reprogramme the system. I don't have the skills to be able to link out unused zones with alarm wire so programming out the zones is prefferable if this can be done. Thanks.
norman Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 the wire solution is far easier, just take a short piece of alarm wire and screw it into the terminals that correspond with the offending zone. Unless you already have an engineering manual as these are only available from this site to members who prove to be in the trade. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Guest Jon Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Problem now solved! Thanks for the advice offered through the forum.
